Etsy Around the Corner

When housebound, internet perusing for local finds can lead to treasures crafted around the corner--and sold across the world. Knowing our area artisans, we can tap into the inspiration, talent, and skills burgeoning from the people living among us. Here are a few businesses and products we love, plucked from Etsy and delivered to you.

Silver Honeycomb Hair Slide

After college, Rachel quit her day job to pursue jewelry-making, a family tradition. Her honeycomb design is one of her oldest and most popular, developed while working at the Boston Museum of Science. We just don’t see things like this in stores. An heirloom piece.

Letterpress 5x7 1890 Reed Bicycle print

Founded in 2013 by craftsman and graphic designer James Quigley. Recurring ingenuity in handmade vintage stamped letterpress products makes deciding between greeting cards, prints, and coasters a difficult decision, but one that we relish. Reed Bicycle Print: conversation piece. Japanese motif coasters: for the swankiest party of your year--or as a hostess gift gem.

Removable Wallpaper, Muse Mustard

Kate Zeremba specializes in wallpaper, textiles, and set design. She also founded The Lemon Collective, a workshop space in NW DC that hosts art classes and shows. We’re crazy about Kate’s fun, bold patterns and playful use of color. Love: Pinstripe floral, tulip shakur and muse variations. Bending over backwards is a frisky whim. PVC-free, eco-friendly, in-house designs to make your DC home reflect the best of DC’s artistry.

Maryland Watercolor Painting

Our area’s transience is both exciting and challenging. We love this watercolor of Maryland stamped with artist Heather K’s signature. This packable memento works well for both housewarming and farewell gifts.
